Artist’s Laboratory Theatre is a community-based, site-specific theater in Fayetteville, Arkansas, dedicated to expanding the audience’s role in live theater. They stage original, handcrafted performances in surprising places that include their audiences in novel ways. From collaborating with community groups in their writing process, to engaging through interactive experiences during a live immersive performance, ALT aims to make their work a meaningful exchange with the community.

ALT believes storytelling is the vehicle through which movement and transformation can occur, and that theatre especially has the potential to cause awe, self-refection, social responsibility and inspiration.


Artist’s Laboratory Theatre has participated in a number of residencies, workshops, projects and camps for people of all ages. Some examples include:

Play a Part Model Description: A community performance project through which Artist's Lab ensemble co-creates a theatre alongside communities around relevant and impactful topics.

VA: Healing Arts: Year-long residencies with regional Veterans. Acting, creative writing, visual art and poetry courses with the goal of understanding which activities Veterans find engaging and useful.

Devising Camps: 7-day camp with area youth ages 8 - 18. Acting and writing lessons with the goal of performing an original script for family and friends at the end of the week.

Summer & Spring Break Improv Camps: One-week camp with area youth ages 8 - 12.

Polaroid Stories: Exploration of Character & Textual Analysis: Year-long residency working with at-risk youth.

Geometry + Theatre: A+ Schools: Year-long arts integrated residencies in partnership with Arkansas A+ Schools

Creative Writing Workshops: Four 2-hour workshops with youth and adults ages 16 and over.

Northwest Arkansas Community Correctional Center: Two 10-week courses with incarcerated women.
