Erika Wilhite offers in-class and after school residencies in devised theatre—a collaborative writing method that employs techniques of playwriting and actor training to create an original performance from scratch.

Erika Wilhite is founder and artistic director of the Artist’s Laboratory Theatre (ALT), an experimental, site-specific theatre that includes its community members in their process and productions in unique and meaningful ways. Wilhite is a writer, director, and performer for the ALT ensemble who strives to create relevant and personal performances that encourage community input and social progress. She holds a MFA in Theatre from University of Central Florida, and has received additional training in physical and devised theatre from SITI Company with Anne Bogart, and Double Edge Theatre (America's oldest "laboratory theatre"), and in civic practice methods of facilitation through Michael Rohd with Center for Performance and Civic Practice. To learn more about her mission and methodology, check out her Tedx Talk.

I am a theatre artist—director, writer, actor, producer and teacher. I am founder and artistic director of The Artist’s Laboratory Theatre, a company dedicated to experimentation through the storytelling process. I strive to find new ways of making theatre, such as devising new works based on inspired stories from my environment and community. I hold a MFA in Theatre from University of Florida Theatre Conservatory, and have received additional training in devised theatre and rigorous movement and voice training from programs at Double Edge Theatre (America’s oldest laboratory theatre) and SITI Company (with director Anne Bogart.)
