Workshops with Sandrekkia is guaranteed to be a high energy experience that will leave students wanting to write and speak more than ever. Not only does the workshops give students a chance to learn how to effectively manage their emotions, but each residency supplements the core standards for literacy, writing, and communication.

With her workshops students get a chance to be seen and heard. Her workshops are engaging and will make any students happy to participate. Morning’s approach is to educate the whole child and give them skills that will allow them to excel in school and in life. As each residency ends with a showcasing event (Poetry Slam or Open Mic) it allows for the participation of the students, teachers, staff, and parents.


Sandrekkia Morning is a young Spoken Word Poet, Author and Teaching Artist. She has worked
in school districts across the state from Hot Springs County, White County, Pine Bluff, Little
Rock School District, and Pulaski County Special School District. She has worked with Universities
such as University of Central Arkansas, University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Henderson,
Arkansas Tech, and Hendrix University. She has worked with organizations such at Pulaski
County Youth Services, Arkansas Learning Through the Arts, Tendaji, The Roots Art Connection
and the L.O.V.E nonprofit. She is a member of nationally known poetry slam team, Foreign
Tongues. Morning is the co-founder of the program Creative Connections which aim to provide
academic enrichment through the arts.
