Peterson's Original Ragtime Band

Peterson's Original Ragtime Band

Peterson’s Original Ragtime Band was formed to present ragtime and other vintage music to today’s audiences. Led by hammer dulcimer player and builder David Peterson, the group blends together dulcimer, guitar, fiddle, banjo and bass to form a unique string band sound. Two programs are available. The first is a performance program including ragtime hits, songs of the ragtime era as well as good old-time music. The second program is a special performance and lecture demonstration. The band performs ragtime hits, minstrel tunes, string band rags and early blues. Along the way, David and his wife Donna Peterson demonstrate the dances of the day. David Peterson was the 2010 winner of the Arkansas Arts Council's Judges Special Recognition Governor's Arts Award for his work with hammer dulcimers.
