Shannon Wurst

Shannon Wurst

Shannon Wurst is a paradox. Although her last name may belie her abilities, her distinct voice rings true. While staying true to the musical traditions set forth by those from so long ago, Shannon adds a modern twist. By pairing old with new, her music has a truly timeless sound. Growing up in a musical family in Alma, Arkansas (affectionately dubbed the Spinach Capital of the World), Shannon is no stranger to picking parties and house concerts. She is a true artist: an entertainer, a storyteller, and a songstress. In 2009, many took notice of this rising star as Shannon was a finalist in the 2009 Kerrville New Folk Songwriting competition, Folk Alley Best Artist, and was named the winner of the Walnut Valley New Song Contest at the Walnut Valley Music Festival in Winfield, Kansas. Garrison Keillor of “A Prairie Home Companion” radio program picked her as semi-finalist for his program’s Talented Twenties contest. She has also had the distinct honor of being invited to open for Robert Earl Keen, Yonder Mountain String Band, Carlene Carter, and Railroad Earth.

Her Show “The Arkansas Traveler” is a multi-media family program highlighting Arkansas’ natural heritage through song.

“The Shannon Wurst Concert” features work by the award-winning singer/songwriter herself.
