The Storm Trio

The Storm Trio

The Storm Trio is an innovative ensemble featuring chamber music for soprano, clarinet, and piano. Showcasing the talents of Laura Storm, soprano; Steve Becraft, clarinet; and May Tsao-Lim, piano, the Storm Trio offers both traditional and contemporary programming: "Orpheus and Euridice: a Song Cycle in Two Acts" unites the drama of opera with the intimacy of chamber music in an imaginative retelling of the Orpheus myth by composer Ricky Ian Gordon. Performed with staging, costumes, and simple lighting effects, the 55-minute song cycle follows Orpheus’ attempt to bring his lost love back from the underworld. "American Portraits " combines works by lesser- and well-known American composers in a varied program of jagged modernism, pastoral lyricism, and jazzy blues. "Shepherds, Millers, and Love " features a program unified around the themes of pastoral innocence and longing for love found in Franz Schubert’s masterpiece "Der Hirt auf dem Felsen (The Shepherd of the Rock)."
