Ukulele Bill

Ukulele Bill and the “Great Uke Salute” appeals to anyone ages 3 to 100. As part of an entertaining and fun show, Ukulele Bill plays songs from the four Ukulele Craze periods in America, demonstrating multiple types of ukuleles, and talking about each song and the time period when it was popular. This show is ideal for libraries and other similar venues. The audience is encouraged to bring its own ukes and join in a group playing and singing of “Sloop John B.” Bill’s program also features a ukulele drawing several times during the performance when 3 or 4 audience members can win their very own ukulele. Four different sizes of ukuleles are on display for the audience to try and see which size they might like best. In addition to answering questions, the performer provides handouts with information on ukulele websites and ukulele building (Ukulele Bill builds his own ukuleles). As Ukulele Bill says, “The ukulele is truly a happy little instrument that can play songs from almost any genre and time period.”

Ukulele Bill has great ukulele songs for children that will keep them not only entertained with music, but also can get them involved hands on with the instrument by having each child build their own jar lid/Popsicle stick mini ukulele to take home with them. This show is especially good for schools and summer children's programs.

Ukulele Bill has two different one-day workshops that teach total beginners or intermediate ukulele players how to approach and enjoy the ukulele journey. This is not just teaching chords and songs (which it does teach), but more importantly how to approach learning and practicing and keep the enjoyment factor high. Ukulele Bill has over 50 years of playing fretted instruments and really wants to share the knowledge that will help aspiring ukulele players.
