Workshop Teaches Performing Artists How to Film and Record Performances

DOCUMENTING PERFORMING ARTS FOR COMPETITIONS, AUDITIONS, AND GRANTS

This workshop is co-sponsored by the Arkansas Arts Council and Pulaski Technical College Center for Humanities and Arts (CHARTS). Participants will learn the basics of producing a high-quality sound recording and video of a performance with tips on how to accomplish the best results on a budget. Attendees will learn about necessary equipment, how to use it in the field, and editing footage to create a final video. Workshop leaders are Adam Lansky, audio engineer for the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, and Nathan Willis, professional filmmaker.

The workshop will also include a film and audio documentation of a performance on stage by Trent Montgomery, resident dancer of Arkansas Festival Ballet, and Michael Heavner, musical director, instructor and dance accompanist at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Department of Theatre Arts and Dance.
