Silent Auction to Benefit Sally A. Williams Artist Fund

Arkansas Arts Council - Thursday, April 02, 2015

We have collaborated with Wildwood Park for the Arts to present a silent auction that benefits our Sally A. Williams Artist Fund, which helps artists pay for professional development and business-related costs to advance their careers.

The auction will take place at the opening reception of "Symbiotic Art, Nature & Spirituality," an exhibition of Wildwood Park for the Arts' Art in the Park program. The reception is set for Thursday, April 16, from 6-8 p.m. and will include food from Whole Foods Market and beverages.

The auction will feature the artwork of the late Sally A. Williams. Sally Williams was the Council's artist services manager for 25 years before her passing in 2010. The auction will only be open during the night of the reception, but "The Symbiotic: Art, Nature & Spirituality" exhibition will be open through May 10.

"Symbiotic: Art, Nature & Spirituality" features women artists who share an interest in the cycle of plants, people, and spirit that make up the substance of life. Exhibiting artists use a variety of processes to connect to their natural environment, including textiles, repetition, pattern, collage, and sculpture. Materials range from natural dye to beeswax, plants to prints. Featured artists include Barbara Cade, Jessica Louise Camp, Sofia V. Gonzalez. Nichole Howard, Lisa Krannichfield and Rachel Trusty.
