Kearney to Lead Writing Workshop

Janis Kearney

STAR CITY, AR — Aspiring writers have the chance to learn from well-known author and publisher Janis F. Kearney during a one-day workshop on memoir writing.

The Arkansas Arts Council is co-sponsoring the workshop, “Writing Our Lives,” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at Reaching for Life, Inc., at 200 Griffin St. in Star City.

Kearney is a writer, publisher, journalist and instructor. She was inducted into the Arkansas Writers Hall of Fame in 2016. Her workshop will provide basic writing tips, instructions on how to prepare a story for a book and publishing options.

Kearney served eight years in the Clinton Presidency as a white house media affairs specialist, then as the director of public communications for the U.S. Small Business Administration. She served the last five years of Clinton’s presidency as the personal diarist to President Clinton. She also has penned several books and founded a publishing company, Writing our World Publishing.

Morning refreshments and lunch will be served. Cost to attend is $10 per person. Reserve tickets through Eventbrite by April 3, or join the discussion on our Facebook event page.

Please let staff know if an attendee needs support for accessibility, including sight, hearing and food.
