2018 - Richard Stephens


Richard Stephens is an internationally recognized watercolor artist who lives and works in Hot Springs. He enjoyed a successful career as a freelance graphic designer for 45 years. He is recognized for his landscape, architectural and figurative work. He became part of a weekly life drawing class in the 1970s along with several other artists and it continues to meet on a weekly basis. Stephens was chosen as one of the first Hot Springs National Park’s “Artists in Residence” when the program was initiated in 2004. He has exhibited work at the First Friday Gallery Walk in Hot Springs since 1990. He’s been generous in donating his time and artwork in support of many non-profit organizations, fundraisers and events. For the past 18 years, he has been conducting watercolor workshops around the country. His artwork and articles have been included in many national publications including “Watercolor Artist,” “Splash” magazine in 2008, 2012 and again in 2018, and “The Art of Watercolour,” a respected French watercolor magazine.
