The Josh Love Band is an acoustic bluegrass quartet that performs its varied repertoire in a new bluegrass style. The group’s hard driving, but clear, sensitive band sound brings excellent vocal harmony to good, honest American music. Repertoire ranges from songs by Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, and Rodney Crowell, to music written by Gordon Lightfoot and Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs. The band includes two generations of musicians who have studied bluegrass and related styles of music for most of their lives. The guitarist for the band is Josh Love, the youngest member, born in 1983. His musical interest began at the age of 8, when his Grandpa, the upright bassist Don Love, began taking him to local bluegrass festivals. Mandolinist Bill Nesbitt has played and sung all his life, performing as a bluegrass band member since 1979. The banjoist for the band is William B. “Banjo Bill” Anderson. Music has been his lifelong passion, as he fell in love with the art form while listening to recordings of Dixieland jazz and Sousa marches on his parent’s Magnavox stereo at an early age. Glenn Waldo, a prize-winning Arkansas Bluegrass bass player helped form the distinctive sound of the Josh Love Band in 2008.
